Ephesians 3:14-19 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;

Tthat ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth,
and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Day 4—An Expression of the Body of Christ

We made mention two days ago that Paul saw the temple on three scales. First was us, as individual believers. Second, he saw the local church as a corporate temple. Again, he got his message across with a question. Know ye not that ye (plural)are the temple (náos) of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you (plural)?I Corinthians 3:16.

Paul expected us who gather in the Name of the Lord Jesus to know who and what we are as we are gathering unto Him. As His temple, God desires that His presence be known among us. But, sometimes it seems that Christians who gather for worship have no awareness of His presence at all. We all need to repent for not acknowledging the presence of the Lord when we come together in His Name!

 Those who lead worship services need to allow the Holy Spirit to “hold the reins” when meeting as a body of believers. Programs, ideas, singers with songs that must be sung, preachers with sermons that must be preached, all too often hold a greater place of importance. What we miss by not allowing the Holy Spirit to hold control is, beyond a doubt, more than any of us could imagine.

When we come together with others to worship we need to begin acknowledging the Holy Spirit’s presence  and waiting on the Lord with strong supplication and strong expectation.

DEAR LORD, I repent for not acknowledging You when we gather for worship. Oh, teach me, teach us, to open ourselves to Your abiding presence. Forgive me for judging others who seem to just come and sit, and whose lives seem to bear little fruit. Make me a blessing and an inspiration to each one who comes among us.
Let others behold You at work in my life.
